Shaun Keylock Wins Barney Creative Prize
Shaun Keylock has won the prestigious Barney Creative Prize, awarded by White Bird to dance artists currently creating work in the western states.
The prize will support the creation of a new world premiere by Keylock to be presented as part of the White Bird UNCAGED 2020/2021 Season. Other prize winners selected for this year’s award include Trevor Wilde and Beth Whelan.
Commissioning new work is central to White Bird’s mission. Since 1997, White Bird has commissioned 35 new works from choreographers in Portland and beyond. Keylock, Wilde, and Whelan join White Bird’s illustrious rank of recent awardees alongside individuals such as Tahni Holt, Jacques Heim, Kate Weare, and Alonzo King.
